Brief Overview of AAA Life Insurance Company

AAA is a fantastic company. They have over 60 million members and provide many benefits that are well worth the yearly membership fees.

The company is highly rated among all the major rating institutions, including an A (excellent) rating from AM Best.  They treat their customers exceptionally well, which is reflected in an A+ rating with the BBB.

As a company, AAA is a fantastic organization; however, their life insurance offerings are not among the best available.  Many other insurance providers offer better policies, lower premium rates, and additional benefits that AAA does not offer.

AAA Life Insurance Policy Options

AAA has a handful of policies to serve the needs of its members.

Term Life Insurance Options From AAA

ExpressTerm Life

  • No medical exam
  • $25,000 – $500,000 in coverage
  • 10, 15, 20 or 30-year terms
  • Apply online without meeting with an agent

Traditional Term Life

  • Medical exam required with an in-person agent
  • $100,000 – $5,000,000 in coverage
  • 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30-year terms
  • Return of premium rider option

Term life insurance is temporary and will eventually expire.  And there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to renew your policy.  If you can renew, your premium rates will be significantly higher.

Term insurance is best suited for younger, working-aged individuals who need temporary coverage in unexpected deaths. Individuals over age 50 face the inevitability of end-of-life expenses and should seek whole life coverage.

Whole Life Insurance Options From AAA

Traditional Whole Life

  • No medical exam but there is a health questionnaire with a live agent
  • $5,000 – $75,000 in coverage
  • Permanent coverage that never expires
  • Rates stay fixed and never increase

Guaranteed Acceptance Whole Life

  • No medical exam or any health questions
  • You cannot be turned down due to health reasons
  • $5,000 – $25,000 in coverage
  • Permanent coverage that never expires
  • Apply over the phone without meeting with an agent
  • One of very few providers offering guaranteed policies for people over age 80

Whole life coverage helps reduce or eliminate end-of-life costs.  Securing one of these policies can ensure that no one suffers a financial burden after you die.

Although there are no medical exams, not everyone will qualify for traditional whole life coverage.  Individuals with pre-existing medical conditions can still find coverage through a AAA Guaranteed Acceptance life insurance policy. However, as mentioned above, many other carriers offer higher coverage amounts and lower rates.

Universal Life Insurance Options From AAA

LifeTime Universal Life

  • Medical exam and background check with an agent
  • Coverage starts at $100,000
  • Fixed premiums for the length of term
  • Renewable coverage
  • Premium increase upon renewal
  • Grows cash value

Accumulator Universal Life

  • Medical exam and background check with an agent
  • Coverage starts at $100,000
  • Fixed premiums for the length of term
  • Renewable coverage
  • Premium increase upon renewal
  • Accumulates accessible cash value
  • Access up to 50% of the death benefit if diagnosed with a terminal illness

Universal Life policies take the best of both term and whole life policies and combine them into one. The one major downfall is that you must health qualify. Universal life insurance policies from AAA are designed for individuals seeking higher policy amounts – coverage starts at $100,000. Although this is a great product, most people seek smaller coverage amounts, so these policies are not an option.

Do AAA Members Receive a Discount On Their Policy?

Yes, AAA member do receive discounts on some of their policy offers, but not all. However, the term ‘discount’ is meaningless. The final cost of your policy is what matters.   Many member organizations use savvy marketing and fancy wordplay to help sell more policies. However, just because you’re receiving a ‘discount’ does not mean AAA is automatically your lowest cost option.

If you’re shopping on a budget, working with an independent agent is the surest way to prevent overpaying for your policy.  Individuals who go about the shopping process alone frequently overpay for their coverage, or worse, end up completely uninsured.

Our independent agents work for you, NOT the insurance company. We help you shop and compare all the top providers in one location to locate your best policy options quickly.

Our Professional Opinion

As mentioned above, AAA is a fantastic company. We have nothing but positive things to say about them as an organization. However, their life insurance policies are middle of the road. They are not very competitive on rates and offer lower coverage amounts than many other insurance providers.
